Community-Verified Weights

Unlike manufacturer specs that can be optimistic, our weight data comes from real users weighing real gear. We use statistical methods to filter outliers and provide consensus weights you can trust.

Every weight submission helps the community. When you add your gear to PackBase, you're contributing to a growing database that benefits everyone.

Privacy

We respect your privacy. Your gear lists are private by default, and you control what you share. We don't sell your data to third parties.

Weight submissions to the community database are anonymous by default. You can optionally attach your username to your submissions if you want credit for your contributions.

How Weight Verification Works

When users submit a weight measurement, it enters our verification pipeline. Each submission includes the gear variant (size, color, version) and the measured weight in grams.

We use statistical consensus to determine the community weight. Multiple independent measurements are aggregated, and outliers are filtered using interquartile range analysis. The more submissions a gear item has, the higher our confidence in the consensus weight.

This matters because manufacturer weights are often optimistic — based on the lightest sample or excluding stuff sacks and accessories. Our community weights reflect what you'll actually find on your scale at home.

PackBase was born from a simple frustration: buying expensive ultralight gear online and discovering it weighed more than advertised. We built the tool we wished existed — a community-driven weight database where real measurements replace marketing claims.
